Casino with PayPal: why none of the 5 brands offers PayPal
Values per casino, each with its source.
None of the five casinos we compiled payment data for – Playzilla, Rolling Slots, PlayiO, Qbet and AmunRa – lists PayPal, neither in the casino.guru deposit lists nor in the AskGamblers withdrawal lists (data as of 05.10.2026). Remaining routes: e-wallets, cards, Paysafecard, bank transfer and crypto; our overview of all online casino deposit methods compares every route.

No source names Trustly. Sofortüberweisung and Klarna are missing from the casino.guru deposit lists, but according to AskGamblers Sofortüberweisung is listed at Playzilla, Rolling Slots, PlayiO and Qbet, and Klarna Instant Bank Transfer at Rolling Slots. Bank transfer is listed at all five; how paying via SEPA works, with times and limits, is on our bank transfer page.
Why none of the 5 brands offers PayPal
The sources give no reason. We have not checked the claim that PayPal excludes casinos in its terms against the primary source.
Under § 4(1) GlüStV 2021, public gambling may only be organised or brokered with a permit from the competent state authority; unauthorised gambling and participation in payments for it are prohibited. Under § 9(1) no. 4 GlüStV 2021, the supervisory authority may prohibit banks and payment service providers from „participating in payments for unauthorised gambling and in payouts from unauthorised gambling“ (both gesetze-bayern.de, as of 06.10.2026). This blocking targets the payment service, not the player.
Licences of the five brands according to the sources:
- Playzilla: Anjouan Gaming Board (according to AskGamblers EN) / PAGCOR (according to AskGamblers DE) / no known licence (according to casino.guru).
- Rolling Slots: Curaçao Gaming Authority (CGA), OGL/2024/589/0556 (according to casino.guru; AskGamblers and LCB also name Curaçao).
- PlayiO: Tobique Gaming Commission (according to AskGamblers) / no licence (according to casino.guru) / Curaçao (according to casinoohnelizenz.com, as of Dec. 2024).
- Qbet: Tobique Gaming Commission, licence no. 0000087 (according to AskGamblers; casino.guru confirms Tobique).
- AmunRa: Anjouan (Comoros) (according to casino.guru and AskGamblers EN) / PAGCOR (according to AskGamblers DE).
None names a German permit. Whether an operator is permitted in Germany is shown only by the official list under § 9(8) GlüStV 2021, kept by the Joint Gambling Authority of the German States (GGL) as a whitelist and updated at least monthly.
Gambling fee with PayPal
Whether PayPal charges its own „gambling fee“ (Glücksspielgebühr): „no information“, as PayPal's pricing and terms are not among our sources. Three cost items are documented:
- Casino fees: Playzilla and PlayiO charge no deposit or withdrawal fees according to the sources. None are listed for Rolling Slots; AskGamblers writes, however, that the casino may charge fees, which would then be displayed – amount: no information. AmunRa charges no withdrawal fees according to AskGamblers, but payment providers may charge their own; after 180 days of inactivity a monthly administration fee is possible according to AskGamblers DE. At Qbet, deposits and the first withdrawal per day are free; each further withdrawal within 24 hours costs a 3 % administration fee, capped at €20 (according to the AskGamblers body text; the same source's data sheet shows „Withdrawal Fees No“).
- Payment service fees: Skrill, Neteller, banks and card issuers set these in their own price lists; the casino sources give no figures.
- Virtual slot machine tax: online slot machine games are taxable in Germany if the operator is based there or the player concludes the gaming contract there (§ 36 RennwLottG). The tax is 5.3 % of the stake, minus the tax itself; the operator owes it, not the player (§§ 38, 39 RennwLottG, gesetze-im-internet.de, as of 06.10.2026).
At permitted operators, when a player account is closed, the balance must be transferred without undue delay, within five working days at the latest, with no fees for closure or payout (§ 6b(7) GlüStV 2021, as of 06.10.2026).
Alternatives to PayPal at the five brands
E-wallets: Skrill, Neteller and MiFinity appear for all five brands in the casino.guru deposit list and the AskGamblers withdrawal list. Cards and smartphone wallets: all five accept Visa and Mastercard for deposits, ApplePay and Google Pay only Qbet according to casino.guru. If you are weighing Visa deposits at casinos instead of PayPal: Qbet's AskGamblers withdrawal list includes neither card, the other four do.
Prepaid: Paysafecard is listed by all five for deposits; how paying with a Paysafecard PIN works and what applies to withdrawals is on our Paysafecard page. Neosurf and CashtoCode appear at Playzilla, PlayiO and AmunRa, Cashlib at Rolling Slots and Qbet, Flexepin only at Qbet. For withdrawals, AskGamblers lists Paysafecard only at Rolling Slots and AmunRa, Neosurf only at AmunRa. For permitted operators: „Deposits or withdrawals via anonymous means of payment are not permitted in distance selling“ (§ 6b(4) GlüStV 2021).

Minimum deposit: from which amount instead of PayPal
None of the five brands is a casino with PayPal from 5 euro; the smallest deposit named is €10, and no source mentions €1 or €5. Whether you can deposit 1 euro at a casino anywhere is covered on our minimum deposit page (1, 5 and 10 euro levels). Per brand:
- Playzilla: €20 (according to the AskGamblers bonus page) / €10 (according to AskGamblers DE), each for a bonus offer; without a bonus: no information.

- PlayiO: €10; at least €20 for the match bonus (according to casinoohnelizenz.com).

- AmunRa: €10 for the welcome bonus; without a bonus: no information.
At permitted operators, deposits are in principle only allowed by direct debit, transfer or payment card from the player's own payment account; exempt are amounts up to €25 per transaction and €100 per calendar month (§ 16(4) GwG, gesetze-im-internet.de, as of 06.10.2026).

By VIP level, Playzilla allows up to €1,500 per day and €20,000 per month. Qbet: €10,000 per day, €25,000 per week, €100,000 per month, with additional checks above €2,000. Minimum withdrawal: Rolling Slots €10 (according to AskGamblers) / €20, crypto €50 (according to LCB); PlayiO €20 (according to the AskGamblers data sheet) / €10 (according to casinoohnelizenz.com); Qbet €20; Playzilla and AmunRa: no information.
At permitted operators, withdrawals only go to a payment account in the player's name, with a payment reference that makes the reason clear to outsiders (§ 16(7) GwG). After a change of payment details, only the previously stored account is allowed until the new details are verified; before the player's details are confirmed, no withdrawal is permitted (§ 6a, § 6a(4) GlüStV 2021).
Legal framework for deposits by e-wallet and card
Obligations for permitted operators in Germany, whether PayPal, Skrill or a bank handles the payment (sources retrieved 06.10.2026, GwG additions 07.10.2026):
- Own payment account only: deposits and withdrawals only via a payment account in the player's name at a credit or payment institution (§ 6b(4) GlüStV 2021).
- E-money only for the same person: with e-money and prepaid values, the holder must be the player (§ 16(6) GwG), so an e-wallet must be in the player account's name.
- Monthly deposit limit: every player sets a cross-operator limit, as a rule at most €1,000 per month; without one, no play is possible (§ 6c(1) GlüStV 2021). An increase takes effect after seven days, a reduction immediately.
- LUGAS limit file: according to the GGL, the monthly LUGAS limit resets on the first of each month, and failed payments count too – for every deposit method.
- No money between player accounts: transfers between player accounts are not permitted, and a ban on credit applies (§ 6b(5) GlüStV 2021).
- Due diligence: gambling operators are obliged entities under the Anti-Money Laundering Act (§ 2(1) no. 15 GwG). Special rules in § 16 GwG apply to online gambling; the €2,000 threshold does not apply to the general due diligence obligations (§ 16(1) GwG). If your savings bank queries a payout, our page on the rules in Germany explains savings bank payout queries.
If a payment is triggered without the account holder's consent, for example after misuse of access credentials, the payer's payment service provider must refund it without undue delay after notification, at the latest by the end of the following business day; if payer fraud is suspected and reported in writing, only after examination (§ 675u BGB, gesetze-im-internet.de, as of 07.10.2026). This does not cover payments you authorised yourself.

Reclaiming a PayPal payment to a casino?
Whether reclaiming a PayPal payment (or one via another payment service) to an online casino is possible has no general answer; we give no legal advice. Documented are two provisions and one case:
- § 762 BGB: gaming or betting creates no binding obligation; what has been paid cannot be reclaimed on that ground alone.
- § 134 BGB: a legal transaction violating a statutory prohibition is void unless the law provides otherwise (both gesetze-im-internet.de, as of 07.10.2026).
- BGH I ZR 216/25: in these lead-decision proceedings, a player claims back €10,092 in online casino losses from 2020 to 2022 from an operator without a German permit; the lower courts ruled in his favour, the hearing was scheduled for 17.09.2026 (Federal Court of Justice, press release no. 086/2026, retrieved 06.10.2026). Our source names no judgment; the outcome is open.
Whether a claim exists and against whom – operator, bank or payment service – depends on the case; a consumer advice centre or lawyer can help. The GGL states it is not responsible for civil-law claims such as recovering gambling losses.

Frequently asked questions about PayPal at online casinos
Is there a casino with PayPal among the five brands?
No. Playzilla, Rolling Slots, PlayiO, Qbet and AmunRa list PayPal neither in the casino.guru deposit list nor in the AskGamblers withdrawal list (0 of 5, data as of 05.10.2026). We make no statement about other operators.
Why is there no PayPal at online casinos?
The sources give no reason. Documented is the legal framework: the authority may prohibit payment service providers from participating in payments for unauthorised gambling; the GGL whitelist shows whether an operator is permitted.
Is there a gambling fee with PayPal?
No information: PayPal's terms are not among our sources. Casino fees: none at Playzilla and PlayiO, 3 % (max. €20) at Qbet from the second withdrawal within 24 hours. The 5.3 % virtual slot machine tax is owed by the operator.
Which alternative to PayPal do the sources name most often?
Skrill, Neteller and MiFinity, listed at all five brands for deposits and withdrawals; plus bank transfer and cryptocurrencies.
Can I deposit with an e-wallet that is not in my name?
Not at permitted operators: the e-wallet must be in the player account's name, and withdrawals only go to the player's payment account.
From what amount can I deposit instead of using PayPal?
The smallest amount named is €10; for welcome bonuses the sources give €20 at Rolling Slots, PlayiO and in some cases Playzilla and Qbet. Qbet crypto deposits start at €25.
